National Stamp Collecting Competition
Yishun Primary School participated in the National Stamp Collecting Competition 2018 organised by Singapore Philatelic Museum. The annual competition seeks to promote the study of postage stamps and philatelic materials to learn about the world. Participants selected and researched on a topic of their choice, and presented their findings through the English Language and a variety of philatelic materials. The competition enabled participants to sharpen their research and organisation skills as well as their language and writing skills. Kudos to these pupils and the teachers who had prepared them for this competition.
We attained 3 Silver Awards and 1 Bronze Award.

National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore
To generate a greater interest in Mathematics among the pupils, a group of
selected Primary 5 pupils participated in the National Mathematical Olympiad of
Singapore organised by NUS High School for Mathematics and Science.
Congratulations to the pupil who have achieved the following awards. Our P5 participants received 2 Silver Awards, 2 Bronze Awards and 5 Honourable Mention Awards.
11th Annual Mathlympics For All Singapore Primary Schools 2018
The Annual Mathlympics competition, which aims to expose
pupils to intellectually challenging questions in order to stimulate their
interest and ignite their passion in Mathematics, is organised by Anglo Chinese

N6 Cluster Orienteering Competition 2018 (PE/CCA)
To provide
opportunities for pupils to engage in physical robustness and healthy
lifestyle, the school has sent 4 teams of Primary 6 pupils to take part in the
N6 Cluster Orienteering Competition 2018 organized by Northbrooks Secondary
School. The pupils have fun as they learn the value of teamwork through
communication and navigation during the competition. The school came in 1st
for the Overall N6 Cluster Orienteering 2018 (School Team) and we congratulate
the pupils for winning the following prizes.

Nusantara World Music Competition
In celebration of the Malay Language Month, Nusantara World Music organized a singing competition, Juara Si Cilik, which was held at the Event Space, Wisma Geylang Serai on Saturday, 1 September 2018. Our students, Nur Ariana from P3 Nation Loving and Hana Shofiyyah from P1 Perseverance took part in the competition. Nur Ariana emerged as the winner of the competition.
Our winner, Nur Ariana with the organiser, Mr Art Fazil, Guest of Honour, the judges for the competition, Mr Addy Cradle and Mdm Asnida Daud, and host, Mr Dyn Norahim.
MOE Innergy (School) Awards 2018
The Innergy Award aims to recognise teams that have spent time developing, testing and implementing innovations to bring about significant benefits in MOE. All innovations are ground-up innovative projects and have been successfully implemented to significantly add value to teaching or work processes.
Schools can nominate individuals or teams for the Innergy (Schools) Awards 2018, for innovative projects to enhance Teaching and Learning (T&L) or Work Processes (WP) implemented between 01 Jan 2017 and 31 Dec 2017.
The 3 projects from Yishun Primary School have achieved excellent outcomes.

S•C•R•E•E•N (WP) – Gold Award
Project S•C•R•E•E•N is the acronym for Share, Collaborate, Reflect & Engage via Edmodo• Network. This school innovation was used to engage pupils and their parents during the Overseas Immersion Programmes to Shanghai and Bangkok in 2017 and also Brunei in 2018.
- 3S Programmes@YPS (T&L) – Commendation Award
The Chinese Language Unit designed the 3S Programmes@YPS which provides a holistic approach to develop the students into active reader (STAR Programme), confident speakers (SHINE Programme) and passionate writers (SHARE Programme).
- Building on our Knowledge: Our Lego Programme (T&L) - Commendation Award
The Tamil Language Unit designed the “Building on our Knowledge - LEGO programme”. The innovation aims to engage and motivate the students to speak the Tamil Language confidently and also to enhance their all-round communication skills

Chinese Language Competitions
“Awe-Inspiring Virtue and Ocean of Wisdom” National Calligraphy Competition 2018

- 12 pupils took part in the competition and won the Merit Award under the Group Category. On top of that, Fan Yixiang from 6 Nation Loving also clinched 17th place under the Individual Category.

MOE "Our Schools, Our Stories" Photo Story Contest
In "Our Schools, Our Stories" photo story contest, students and educators shared their school experiences through photography. Our teachers, Mr Terrance Ang and Mdm Aziana participated in the competition with support from our school staff and students. The team received the MOE Staff Honourable Mention Award under the "Our School Community" Category.
