Indian Dance

Synopsis:

The Indian Dance CCA in Yishun Primary school aims to develop an appreciation for Indian classical dance in our pupils. This year we target to recruit more members from the various ethnic groups and pupils from the P1 and P2 levels.

Our dancers undergo an intensive four hour training sessions each week under the guidance of Mdm Durga Devi Manimaran who is an established choreographer cum dancer. During these training sessions, pupils build their foundation in learning the basic steps of the Indian classical dance, Bharathanatyam.

Our dancers perform the choreographed dance items for both internal and external events. They have performed in various external events such as, the International Biology Olympiad 2012, SINDA Excellence Award 2012, National Arts Council’s Award ceremony 2014, International Conference of the world Association of Lesson Studies (WALS) 2012 and National Day celebrations at Chong Pang CC.
